Grapefruit and Sugar: Birthdays and Valentines

One of my aims for this year was to establish 'Grapefruit and Sugar' more: both in terms of my blog and my design work. With this in mind I've spent the first few weeks of January mocking up ideas and making them come to life - in the form of Birthday and Valentines cards. I still have a few more to add, but the first bunch of 2015 lovely's can now be found on my Etsy

I'm so glad my little collection is starting to come together and that at least one of my resolutions is still going strong.

Updating my Etsy

I'm a massive fan of things to do lists, I'm so scatty and forgetful I find it a lot easier to write down all the things I'll likely forget to do. One of these such things, which has been floating about on my to-do list for some time now, is to update my Etsy shop - which I've finally achieved this week, a few tweaks remain, but for me this counts as it being pretty much crossed off the list. I love the feeling of completing something, and hopefully my list will slowly begin shrinking.

I find Etsy so tricky, I never know how best to photo my products, and when I've done it I always question if I'm happy with it. One of my biggest dilemmas was the cover banner, I just did not know what I wanted -  only that there had to be pineapples in there somewhere! I'm sure no doubt I'll change it again in a few weeks, but for now I'm happy to finally have my stuff back on Etsy, after some serious neglect.

Wimbledon Art Studios: Arabella Stewart

I just cant help but love Arabella's sketches, they are so cute and yet so simple: black line on a white background. So lovely.

Blank Inside design

Ketchup on everything

Another discovery made at pulse, I was drawn to the work mainly because I too like to put ketchup on everything, and its nice to know someone else feels the same way.

yes, lets put ketchup on everything...

Home Slice

I saw Home Slice at pulse yesterday and really liked their work, this is some of their stuff, its lovely.

Their studio is on a boat, amazing.

Lazy Oaf

I love lazy oaf. I think their designs are amazing, quirky and they work so well on fashion, when it could be argued that the designs are more a-kin to stationary. This has inspired me not to rule out fashion when creating my in-situs. Who wouldn't want a llama shirt...

Raymond Peynet - The Lovers

Les Amoureux de Peynet (Peynets lovers), were two characters created by the artist Raymond Peynet. I like these has they tell a story in the illustrations, one which most people can relate to and find heart warmingly romantic, they are sweet depictions of a couple in love. They remind me of my couple I created within my sketchbook briefly called mr and mrs.tangled mess, and made me think along side creating patterns I should try to create greeting cards/prints. I'm currently creating print designs for postcards made up of patterns and fruit with a quirky, sweet message printed on them - similar to a degree to the lovers.
I think Peynets designs are so cute, and they make you want to own one, I'd like to create a similar sense of wanting when people see my work.
